On the day, guests should arrive from 2pm onwards, from which time the hotel will be made available for our exclusive use. Although we are unable to guarantee access to all rooms until 3.30pm, you may wish to share available rooms for getting ready, or make use of space provided for storing luggage. If you plan to dress before arriving at Bigbury please be assured that 4x4 vehicles will be available to whisk you over to the island without getting sand in your shoes.

We want our guests to have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful venue: to relax, catch up with friends and simply crawl upstairs to bed at the end of the evening.

All rooms are individually furnished and decorated in art deco style, and many are named after some of the guests who frequented the hotel in the 1920's and 30's. We will be allocating the rooms before your arrival. See the Burgh island website for more information about the rooms and their individual features.

The ceremony will begin at 3pm and will be followed by champagne, cake and photographs. Guests will have an hour or two in the afternoon to enjoy the hotel's facilities before meeting for cocktails and canapés in the bar from 6pm and dinner at 7pm. We want the overall feeling of the day to be relaxed (for those of you who don't have to make speeches!) and haven't planned a formal reception for the evening. However, the Blue Bar will be open late and good company should take us into the small hours…

Some of you may have already read or heard about the hotel and it's tradition of black tie at dinner, but please don't feel that you have to dress up - Jim certainly won't be..
However, if you do want to take inspiration from the 20's and 30's theme please feel free.

Breakfast will be served between 8.30am and 10am in the Ganges Room. Guest should check out before 11.30am. All room charges will have been paid for in advance, however you will need to pay any additional costs.
